One more time Reena Ahluwalia Wins the North American Tahitian Pearl Trophy
Designer Reena Ahluwalia's stunning necklace design walked off with top honors in the 2007-2008 "The Song of the Stars" Tahitian Pearl Trophy-North American division. The competition was held by the Cultured Pearl Association of America, which represents Perles de Tahiti in the United States.
In awarding the trophy, the judges described Ahluwalia's work as sensational, provocative and absolutely luxurious. The international competition, which takes place every two years, is unequalled in the world for its exquisite designs from top artists.
Ahluwalia's design, "Ethereal Rhapsody," goes on to the international awards competition, serving as the North American entry. An international jury will judge the entries in May.
The judging, which was held at the Terrace Club in New York City, featured a panel of experts, including
Laurie Schechter, Stylists and Co.; Elena Mauer, Bridal Guide; Jean Francois Bibet, Van Cleef and Arpels; Amanda Gizzi, Jewelry Information Center; Kathleen Fritzpatrick, freelance editor; Hedda T. Schupak, JCK and Fran Mastoloni, Frank Mastoloni and Sons.
In addition to winning the North American Tahitian Pearl Trophy, Ahluwalia took second place in the bracelet and brooch categories.
