Shoppers in New York City's newly trendy MePa – the neighborhood formerly known as the Meat Packing District – will have to wait a little longer to flash the plastic at the hot 'hood's new Hugo Boss store. The designer shop was slated to open during "Summer 2008," but with Labor Day weekend now officially behind us and the store not yet open, perhaps "Sometime in 2008" would be a better description than current signs hopefully heralding a September opening.Located at 401 West 14th Street, the store is situated next to Apple and design house Moschino, which should guarantee a steady stream of street traffic…once construction finally finishes.
When it does, shoppers will be treated to a collection of Fall fashions inspired by two rather unlikely icons – "Pirates of the Caribbean" star Johnny Depp and his longtime love, French singer Vanessa Paradis. The very not-married, bohemian couple's individualistic look(s) are celebrated in Fall's Boss Orange line, which mixes military and bohemian themes in an unlikely-yet-stylish juxtaposition.Highlights of the collection include a dramatic fringed cape made to pair with skinny pants, interchangeable buttons (because face it, who doesn't get bored with the same old buttons every day?) and an army parka with detachable fake fur lining.Pick them up at a Hugo Boss store near you…just not in MePa.
