Frank Gehry's amazing creations grace the great cities of the world, from New York to Prague to Bilbao, Spain.  So what's the latest spot designated for a Gehry-designed masterpiece?  Would you believe El Segundo, California?  This unassuming coastal community located between the beaches of the South Bay and Los Angeles International Airport has been selected as the new home for Gehry Partners, the architect and designer's storied, 160-member firm.  A 75,000 square foot site is currently being transformed from a local eyesore into what will likely be the most celebrated architectural project ever to be undertaken in El Segundo.

The so-called "campus" is being developed by NSB Associates, but Gehry Partners will have their ultra-creative fingers all over the master plan.  They will add 15,000 square feet of space, and rework 60,000 square feet of existing warehouses and similarly unglamorous structures, for a planned move-in before the middle of next year.  Gehry Partners is currently based in a 44,000 square foot space in nearby West Los Angeles, but are growing too big to remain there.  It will be taken over by the award-winning TBWAChiatDay, one of America's most honored advertising agencies, that is already based in that Gehry-designed  building.
