Chairs – You need it anywhere
No matter where you are; at home, in the office or at a party there is one bit of furniture that wouldn’t miss the eye and that is the chair. It supports us whenever we need to relax, get rid of stress, just laze around, or even doze off in its comforts. There are several types of chairs that one would have come across. The normal ones are found everywhere, but chairs too have been getting a touch of modern art in these recent times. The ones that usually adorn our dinning rooms and homes are the more traditionally made chairs with four legs, a backrest and flat seating area which is usually cushioned to make it even more comfortable.
The chair in the ancient times was regarded as a seat of authority especially in the House of Commons while the others would be seated on crests, benches etc. It has surely evolved from the past and can now be found in almost every home and is an integral piece of furniture added to fill up your home.
The design of the chair usually is intended to be versatile enough to stand regular usage. Apart from than it should be comfortable enough for those who sit on it, comfortable so that they can sit on it for long. This applies for all types of chairs traditional, modern, office chairs and even garden chairs. If the chair is ergonomically designed, it helps distribute the occupant’s weight evenly on the body of the chair. The chair also needs to be of the right height so that the occupant does not have his/her feet dangling below the chair.
Chairs have been subdivided into several categories like the “rocking chair”, “recliner”, “bubble chair” etc to name a few.
The rocker or the rocking chair is an interesting type of chair and people love sitting on it. It is designed in such a way that it moves back and forth as the occupant pushes is slightly. They usually have two curved arcs of wood at the bottom of the legs which give it the rocking motion. As the user shifts his weight on the chair the chair moves.
The bubble chair on the other hand is a chair that is left suspended from the ceiling. This was designed by Eero Aarnio in 1968 a Finnish designer. The bubble chair is usually made of acrylic that is transparent or of stainless steel. It is suspended from the ceilings with an iron chain and hooks that securely hold the chair and the weight of the occupant.
Modern chairs are very artistic in their look and you do not need to have many of them in your home. They come in various colors, shapes and sizes and are also experimented with the material. There are chairs that are made of cardboard pieces, and these are the environmentally friendly chairs. One wouldn’t think of cardboard as a material to use, however these chairs are designed in such a way that it can handle the weight of the occupant. It looks artistic as well is useable.
